Tenderly
Ben Webster
The Brute Plays Tenderly
Written and published, in 1946, by Walter Gross, “Tenderly” has since become a jazz standard. It has since been covered by Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong, Clifford Brown, Lenny Breau, Duke Ellington, Erroll Garner, Eric Dolphy, Natalie Cole and Billy Eckstine.
The song particularly helped to define the career of Sarah Vaughan.
