After a bit of struggle during 1938-40, the Gene Krupa Orchestra hit it big in 1941 when it began featuring singer Anita O’Day and trumpeter Roy Eldridge.
While “Let Me Off Uptown” was the band’s biggest hit, “Thanks For The Boogie Ride” was a close second.
Fortunately, both songs were filmed as Soundies in 1941.
“Thanks For The Boogie Ride,” which showcases O’Day and has spots for Eldridge and Krupa, is quite entertaining.
Excellent camerawork, perfect timing, and fine performances make this one of the best of the Soundies.
