One of the top jazz singers of the past 30 years, Karrin Allyson originally burst on the scene as a bop-oriented vocalist and a superior scat-singer; she has since also developed into a major interpreter of ballads.
In recent years, Ms. Allyson has been playing piano more with her groups.
For this 2013 version of Johnny Mandel’s “The Shadow Of Your Smile,” Karrin Allyson sings the classic ballad tastefully and with a quiet feeling, accompanying herself on piano and assisted by trombonist Eric Felten.
