Dexter Gordon left for Europe in the late Summer of 1962. Living mainly in Paris and Copenhagen over the next fifteen years he did not return to the United States for good until 1976.

“The Shadow of Your Smile” written by Johnny Mandel, with the lyrics by Paul Francis Webster was first introduced in the 1965 film “The Sandpiper”, featuring a trumpet solo by Jack Sheldon.

Dexter Gordon performs in Sweden in 1974.
