The final episode of the 1958 TV program “The Subject is Jazz” hosted by Gilbert Seldes and features a band under the direction of Billy Taylor.
During an interview with Gilbert Seldes, pianist George Russell discusses jazz improvisation and the future of jazz at length, providing a simplified explanation of his “Lydian Concept.”
The half-hour series featuring many prominent jazz artists was produced at WNBC TV in New York and ran for thirteen episodes.
