One of the top arrangers on the jazz scene today, Darcy James Argue, was born in Canada, studied with Bob Brookmeyer, moved to Brooklyn in 2003, and two years later formed his 18-piece, 14-horn big band called Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society.
The Secret Society recorded three albums between 2009 and 2016.
Argue conducts his orchestra on “Transit,” a colorful piece with dense ensembles and a fiery solo trumpet performance by David Smith.
