It took a long time, but pianist Kenny Barron finally became recognized as one of jazz’s greats.
He debuted in 1960 with Yusef Lateef, gained recognition as pianist with the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet during 1962-66, and recorded one rewarding album after another for over six decades.
Barron is featured with bassist Chuck Bergeron (who has a short solo) and drummer Evan Hyde in a typically tasteful rendition of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Triste” from 2015.
