Jazz has been an international language ever since recordings became widely available in the early 1920s.
Music Soup is a trio comprised of organist Evgenia Karlafti, guitarist Nestor Dimopoulos, and drummer Vangelis Kotsabasis, all of whom are from Greece.
Karlafti and Dimopoulos began playing together in 2006 and soon formed Music Soup.
Drummer Kotsbasis became a permanent member of the band in 2014.
Occasionally the trio is augmented by guest horn players.
“Upbeat Mood” is a strong example of Music Soup’s music with the modern hard bop original featuring fine guitar and organ solos that, while in the organ trio tradition, sounds fresh and lively.
