Dave Douglas has often been classified with the avant-garde but he is actually a versatile and skillful trumpeter whose music is difficult to categorize.
Douglas has been involved with a countless number of projects throughout his busy career with one of his strongest groups being the quintet heard on this number.
The hard-driving modern straight ahead playing on “Wake Up Claire” features short solos from Douglas, tenor-saxophonist Jon Irabagon, pianist Matt Mitchell, bassist Linda Oh, and drummer Rudy Royston.
