Another Night To Cry
Lonnie Johnson
Lonnie in London
After being announced by Sonny Boy Williamson Lonnie Johnson performs at the 1963 American Folk Blues Festival in London, England with accompanists Memphis Slim (piano), and Willie Dixon (string bass).
German jazz publicist Joachim-Ernst Berendt first had the idea of bringing original African-American blues performers to Europe. Jazz had become very popular, and rock and roll was just gaining a foothold, both genres drew on influences traced directly back to the blues. The concerts held in a variety of locations including London, Hamburg, Paris featured some of the leading blues artists of the 1960s.
