Lafayette Leake performs at his Chicago home with German boogie woogie pianist Axel Zwingenberger in an excerpt from the 1980 TV documentary “Chicago Melodie”.
After living in obscurity Lafayette Leake joined Willie Dixon’s “Big Three Trio” in the early 1950s replacing Leonard Caston the group’s former pianist and began his lengthy association with Chess Records. He went on to record with Chuck Berry and played his classic recording of “Johnny B. Goode”.
(In the film Lafayette’s last name is mistakenly misspelled).
