Memphis Slim (piano & vocals) in Paris performs on French TV on July 30, 1962.

In this touching slow blues legendary pianist Memphis Slim pays homage to his deceased friends and colleagues Big Bill Broonzy, Bessie Smith, and Leroy Carr who, like him, were all born into the blues.

Slim’s association with Broonzy began in 1940 when he was hired by the great blues singer as a replacement following the death of his former pianist Joshua Altheimer.
