A seasoned guitarist Gary Davis continued to teach and inspire many a blues artist even after he gave up secular music himself in 1937 and was ordained as a minister while in Durham, North Carolina. His song “Death Don’t Have No Mercy” serves as a chilling reminder of human mortality, having a profound somber effect on all who hear it.
