A pianist and a recording star of the late ’20s Leroy Carr first popularized the blues piano/guitar duo paired with Scrapper Blackwell.

He wrote a number popular blues and developed a vocal delivery with an air of sophistication that would have a significant influence on many artists to follow.

Carr’s life came to a tragic end with his death from nephritis in 1935 a month after his thirtieth birthday.
