Blues by Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix

Blues to rock

Jimi Hendrix is featured playing at a number of different venues before offering a unique observation on musical success and the blues.

As an adolescent during the 1950s Jimi Hendrix’s interest in music was first inspired by rock artists Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry. In 1968 he confided in an interview with Guitar Player magazine that the playing of electric blues artists including Muddy Waters, Elmore James and B. B. King were his biggest early influence. Of Muddy Waters, the first electric guitarist of which Hendrix became aware, he said: “I heard one of his records when I was a little boy and it scared me to death because I heard all of these sounds.”
