Junior Wells (harmonica & vocals) performs the classic blues anthem “Little Red Rooster” at Lonesome Pine in 1987 featuring Doug McDonald (guitar), and Marty Binder (drums).
“Little Red Rooster” though recorded by Howlin’ Wolf as “The Red Rooster” in 1961 and credited to blues songwriter Willie Dixon predates either artist. The song’s origin can be traced back to “Banty Rooster Blues” recorded in 1929 by the ‘Father of the Delta Blues’ himself Charlie Patton.
