Seven Sisters Blues (parts 1 & 2 )
Funny Papa Smith
Funny Papa’s devil blues
These recordings were made in Chicago on July 10, 1931 featuring J. T. “Funny Papa” Smith (guitar & vocals). Presented here are both sides of the record containing parts one and two of the song.
Widely traveled Texas bluesman “Funny Papa” Smith sings of “The Seven Sisters” a New Orleans hoodoo shop of which he claims to be a satisfied customer. The song conjures devilish imagery while utilizing a strange stop time riff in it’s first part.
