Big Joe Turner preforms his classic “Shake, Rattle and Roll” in a 1955 segment of “Rhythm and Blues Revue” filmed at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem. Here he is announced by disc jockey Willie Bryant and accompanied by tenor saxophonist Paul Williams’ band.

The song “Shake, Rattle and Roll” was written in 1954 by Jesse Stone and first recorded by Big Joe Turner in February of that year. It would be recorded soon after by Bill Haley & His Comets’ and go on to become a popular rock & roll anthem.
