In this film segment Memphis blues legend Furry Lewis plays his classic blues “I’m Going To Brownsville” during the mid-60’s, a song he first record for Victor in 1927.

Furry Lewis made his last recordings in 1929 after which he slipped into obscurity. He was living a quiet life as a sanitation worker for the City of Memphis when he was rediscovered by Sam Charters during the late 1950’s. Furry soon joined the other surviving blues men of the 20’s on the folk festival circuit. In 1969 producer Terry Manning recorded Furry at home in his Fourth Street, Memphis apartment.
