Spivey on BBC TV

Victoria Spivey (piano & vocal) is featured performing her classic “T. B. Blues” for a series produced for BBC TV in 1976 shortly before her death.

Shortly after moving to St. Louis from Dallas, Texas in 1926 Victoria Spivey signed with the Okeh Records and released “Black Snake Blues” which quickly became a hit; the success launched her career. She would make many more on a number of labels with accompanists ranging from Louis Armstrong to Lonnie Johnson beginning with her “T. B. Blues” the following year.
