Cotten-picking Majesty

Elizabeth Cotten plays two songs “Washington Blues” and “I’m Going Away” for the camera in 1965. Elizabeth had been retired from performing music (aside from an occasional song in church) for twenty five years when Mike Seeger began making reel to reel recordings of her songs in the later part of the 1950’s. These recordings would later be released on Folkways Records’ “Folksongs and Instrumentals with Guitar.”
