Whistlin’ Blues
Alex Moore
Whistlin’ with Alex
Whistling pianist Alex Moore is captured performing on the 1969 American Folk Blues Festival tour.
Nicknamed “Whistlin’ Alex” for a tendency of whistling along while playing the piano, Alex Moore made his first recordings in 1929 but they did not sell and he didn’t record again until 1937. He performed in local clubs in Dallas, Texas throughout the 1940s and resumed recording on the RPM/Kent label in 1951.
