A Night In Tunisia

Elvin Jones Trio

Quite an all-star trio

ABOUT OUR NEW LOOK

In 1999 at the Marciac Jazz Festival, a trio comprised of jazz giants performed “A Night In Tunisia.”

Drummer Elvin Jones, who was then 72, leads the piece in and organist Joey DeFrancesco plays the melody.

Guitarist Bireli Lagrene creates a statement filled with bluesy ideas before DeFrancesco improvises a masterful solo of his own.

Elvin Jones gets two minutes to stretch out and takes plenty of explosive breaks over the ending.

The delight on DeFrancesco’s face as he gets to perform with the masterful Jones is memorable.

Personnel:

Elvin Jones, drums
Bireli Lagrene, guitar
Joey DeFrancesco, organ
