In 1981 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of vibraphonist Karl Berger’s Creative Music Studio in Woodstock, Berger hosted a major jazz festival.

One of the highlights was a version of “Impressions” that featured a reunion of altoist Anthony Braxton and pianist Chick Corea (they had been half of the avant-garde quartet Circle a decade earlier) plus bassist Miroslav Vitous and drummer Jack DeJohnette

One gets to hear Braxton in a rare straight-ahead setting (although his solo eventually becomes pretty wild), a strong statement by Corea, and some powerful playing from DeJohnette.
