Milt Jackson (1923-99) was one of the greatest vibraphonists of all time and among the most influential.
A bebop pioneer in the 1940s and a major part of the Modern Jazz Quartet for decades, Jackson loved nothing more than playing a medium-tempo blues including his most famous song “Bags’ Groove.”
Although he had been performing it on a nightly basis for more than 40 years at that point, his playing on this 1994 version of “Bags’ Groove” is as fresh and swinging as ever.
He is joined by pianist Kenny Barron, bassist Ray Drummond, and drummer Ben Riley, each of whom have their spots to shine.
