A top bop-oriented trumpeter who is always in demand (working with McCoy Tyner, Christian McBride, Steve Turre, Russell Malone and John Clayton among many others) in addition to being an influential educator, Terell Stafford can always be relied upon to play hot and swinging solos.
On this performance from 2016 with pianist Randy Halberstadt’s trio, Stafford plays the Freddie Hubbard blues “Byrdlike” with plenty of fire and inventive ideas.
