Michigan native Gene Harris was a jazz pianist well-known for playing “soul jazz” – a warm, gospel-and-blues enriched style. After he considered himself retired, fellow piano great Ray Brown convinced him to come out of Idaho and tour again.

“Fly Me to the Moon” was originally titled “In Other Words” before Count Basie had Frank Sinatra perform it in waltz time.
