Around 2005, Wynton Marsalis and his quintet with tenor-saxophonist Walter Blanding, pianist Dan Nimmer, bassist Carlos Henriquez, and drummer Ali Jackson welcomed violinist Mark O’Connor and guitarist Frank Vignola to their group for a special concert.

The first half of “Sweet Georgia Brown” has O’Connor and Vignola in the spotlight, taking two exciting solos apiece and engaging in a heated tradeoff.

Marsalis and Blanding follow the same format and drummer Jackson has a fine solo but, despite their best efforts, it was obvious that O’Connor and Vignola already stole the show.
