The brilliant classical pianist Garrick Ohlsson discusses Rachmaninoff’s third concerto, his “Rhapsody on a Theme Of Paganini.”
He is seen demonstrating some of the piece’s sections including some remarkably fast runs, and also talks about Art Tatum’s rendition of “Yesterdays.”
After the demonstrations and a brief comment by Oscar Peterson, this short documentary concludes with the best of the three film clips that exist of Art Tatum.
Tatum performs his wondrous arrangement of “Yesterdays” which is taken from an episode of a variety show hosted by Spike Jones.
