When one thinks of piano-harp duets, it is of quiet ballads and peaceful music.

It is fair to say that this performance by pianist Hiromi and harpist Edmar Castaneda would not be described that way.

Its title “Fire” fits this rather wondrous performance which is full of energy, virtuosity, and pure excitement.

The multi-themed work explores several moods, has its free form moments, and includes a rather remarkable tradeoff between the two virtuosos.

There are parts of this performance that really need to be seen to be believed.
