The grandson of a trumpeter and the son of a saxophonist, Benny Benack III. has become an important part of the New York jazz scene as a trumpeter-singer.

He worked with his father when he was just 11, moved to New York at 18 to study at the Manhattan School of Music, and has been active in the New York area for the past ten years, leading two albums.

“A Lot Of Living To Do” was recorded and filmed at a session for his second record; it matches Benack with pianist Takeshi Ohbayashi, bassist Christian McBride, and drummer Ulysses Ownes Jr. for an exhilarating version of the Disney tune.

Whether singing or playing some hot trumpet, Benny Benack III. causes plenty of sparks to fly during this performance.
