Israel “Cachao” López is often credited with, making mambo music more popular worldwide in the ’50s. This type of Latin jam session is known as “descarga,” of which López was a distinct pioneer.

This Cachao composition “Ahora Si” was written in honor of Andy Garcia’s son.

Many Americans might recognize Andy Garcia doing some vocals and percussion work for this performance/music video.

Garcia produced López’s “Master Sessions” to pay tribute to his contributions to jazz.

Personnel:

Jimmy Bosch, trombone
