The 1950 Count Basie Octet is featured on a Snader Telescription playing a medium-tempo blues.

While there are brief spots for clarinetist Buddy DeFranco, tenor-saxophonist Wardell Gray, trumpeter Clark Terry (who is typically humorous) and pianist Basie, the spotlight is mostly on bassist Jimmy Lewis.

Lewis never became well known but he is in excellent form throughout this happy performance.

Personnel:

Count Basie, piano
Clark Terry, trumpet
Buddy DeFranco, clarinet
Wardell Gray, tenor
Freddie Green, guitar
Jimmy Lewis, bass
Gus Johnson, drums
