Black and Tan Fantasy
Beloit Memorial High School Jazz Orchestra
Yes, this is a high school band
A spectacular jazz orchestra from the high school of a small city in Wisconsin (population 36,757.)
I love these guys and it’s fun to see how much they enjoy the music and playing together.
As one commenter said: “God Bless Duke Ellington and America.”
How can anyone think of eliminating music education from the school systems? Yet unfortunately that’s exactly what’s been happening all over the country.
This band and the popularity of Jazz on the Tube is evidence that all we have to do to keep jazz alive is: 1) expose young people to it and 2) support them in their learning.
We’re doing our part at Jazz on the Tube.
Every year, we stream over 4 million jazz videos all over the world – free to anyone who has an Internet connection.
We’re also engaged in a very ambitious jazz education project for Cuban youth (watch for details).
90% of the site’s expenses are volunteer labor, but we do have some hard cash costs.
If you’re inclined to help us with the monthly server, email and tech support expenses we’d be most appreciative.
Details: Support Jazz on the Tube.
Jazz on the Tube has an entire section devoted Cuba and its music.
