Emily Remler (1957-90) was a very skilled guitarist who seemed destined to be considered one of the greats before her unexpected death at the age of 32.

She led six albums during the 1980s and, while a straight-ahead jazz guitarist, Remler showed signs of trying to stretch herself beyond the bebop tradition late in her life.

This concert performance of “Blues For Herb” (for Herb Ellis, one of her early influences) features Remler in prime form on a cooking blues with bassist Steve Bailey and drummer Joe Brancato.
