James Carter has long been one of the most technically skilled and expressive of jazz saxophonists.

A masterful technician who is also an expert on earlier saxophone styles, Carter often plays witty solos filled with percussive sounds and hints of other jazz greats.

For this uptempo piece, Carter really rips into the song after a quiet beginning.

He is joined by pianist Craig Taborn (who takes a fine solo of his own), bassist Jaribu Shahid, and drummer Tani Tabbal for a heated yet swinging performance.
