Equally skilled as a pianist and an organist, Mike LeDonne (who worked along the way with Benny Goodman, Milt Jackson, Art Farmer, James Moody, Sonny Rollins, Benny Golson and many others) has led at least a couple dozen albums since the late 1980s.

A powerful player who usually displays his own sound on the piano, LeDonne is featured on “Blues For McCoy” purposely sounding close to the masterful McCoy Tyner.

The uptempo blues also features swinging accompaniment at the rapid tempo by bassist Alex Claffy and drummer Willie Jones III, and an impressive solo from tenor-saxophonist Eric Alexander.
