Tia Fuller, who gained some recognition while touring with Beyonce, is a very skilled alto-saxophonist with a passionate sound and a forward-looking style.
In addition to her strong solo career in jazz, she is also a professor at the Berklee College Of Music.
This performance by the Berklee Rainbow Band in 2014 finds Tia Fuller conducting the student big band and taking a fine solo.
“Blues For Warren” was written (and probably arranged) by trumpeter Thara Memory who was on stage during the performance; the spirited ensembles and solos by an unidentified altoist and trumpeter (who play together near the piece’s conclusion) are quite professional and full of fire.
