When he was a boy, Oscar Peterson’s sister, Daisy – who would grow up to be a piano teacher herself – taught Oscar classical piano. But it was Oscar’s own drive to practice the conventions of classical that helped his talents fully bloom. A Canadian, Peterson would become best known for his jazz contributions.
The German André Previn is no less versatile – having won 10 Grammys and four Academy Awards for his piano skills.
