Throughout its life, Irakere (which was founded in 1973) performed a wide-ranging variety of music in Cuba, including jazz, Latin dance music, classical themes, and vocal features.
“Dile A Catalina” falls into the latter category, featuring rhythmic singing by Oscar Vales and Enrique Piano during a high-powered performance.
In addition to the vocalizing, both Jorge Varona and Juan Munguia have opportunities to take trumpet solos that add to the fire of the music, with a short spot for guitarist Carlos Emilio Morales.
