Throughout his career, pianist Brad Mehldau, while coming up with fresh versions of vintage standards, has never been content to only play early songs.

He was a pioneer of sorts in interpreting more recent pop, rock, and folk songs, turning them into jazz either with his trio or during solo piano explorations.

During this solo performance, he plays Jeff Buckley’s “Dream Brother,” really digging into the song’s emotions and coming up with inventive and somewhat hypnotic ideas.
