The music comes from the Mardi Gras Indian tradition.

If you had a drum. you would have been invited to play.

Note the young man with the snare drum. At one point Glenn David Andrews, stopped the rest of the rhythm section and let him carry it…which he did.

This approach to music is why New Orleans has produced so many great artists over the years and continues to do so right up until the present.
