Renee Rosnes, who was born in Canada, worked in the late 1980s with Joe Henderson, Wayne Shorter, J.J. Johnson and James Moody.

While she also performed with Bobby Hutcherson, the S FJazz Collective, various all-star groups, and most recently as the music director of Artemis, Rosnes has been generally heard at the head of her own trios.

From 1989 when she was 27, Rosnes performs “I Hear A Rhapsody” in a trio with bassist Ira Coleman and drummer Billy Drummond.

The performance begins slow and melodically with Rosnes taking an unaccompanied chorus followed by a melody statement with the trio and Coleman’s bass solo.

Then during the extended piano solo, the tempo doubles and it becomes a real cooker, featuring Renee Rosnes in top form.
