One of the top young jazz singers around today, Veronica Swift was performing with her parents (singer Stephanie Nakasian and pianist Hod O’Brien) as a child; the years of experience show.
A masterful scat singer with a warm voice and a style that at times shows the influence of Anita O’Day and Ella (although her own musical personality is shining through more all of the time), Veronica Swift has a great deal of potential for the future, and already ranks near the top.
Joined by the Emmet Cohen Trio (with bassist Russell Hall and drummer Kyle Poole), Swift (who scats up a storm) and the instrumentalists alternate between “I Want To Be Happy” and “Get Happy,” creating “I Want To Get Happy.”
