A superb violinist, guitarist and mandolinist, Mark O’Connor has excelled at bluegrass, country, classical music and swinging jazz throughout his career..

O’Connor was a child prodigy who appeared at the Grand Ole Opry when quite young and signed a contract with Rounder Records when he was 13.

O’Connor toured with Stephane Grappelli while still a teenager, has led at least 45 albums (appearing on over 400 others), and has been a prolific composer in a variety of different idioms.

For several years he led the Hot String Trio which also included guitarist Frank Vignola and bassist Jon Burr.

With that group, Mark O’Connor creates a lowdown blues on violin for this performance from 2002, following a fine guitar solo with a very emotional improvisation of his own.
