In The Mood – 1988

Doc Severinsen, Eddie Daniels and Gerry Mulligan

The three jazz soloists team up with Erich Kunzel’s Cincinnati Pops

In 1988, Erich Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops recorded the Big Band Hit Parade, welcoming several notable jazz soloists to their collection of swing favorites.

At a televised concert from August 2, 1988, Kunzel and the Cincinnati Pops performed many of the selections before a large audience.

“In The Mood” features baritonist Gerry Mulligan, clarinetist Eddie Daniels, and trumpeter Doc Severinsen with Ed Shaughnessy on drums (who manages to swing the large ensemble), and the results are quite fun.
