The Playboy Jazz Festival was held at the Hollywood Bowl during a June weekend during 1979-2019, featuring up to ten groups apiece on a Saturday and Sunday, covering a wide variety of jazz and other related music.

The 1982 festival was filmed and some of its best moments have been released through the years.

It would be difficult to come up with a more intense and passionate performance than this uptempo version of “Inner Glimpse.”

Trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, who is in blazing form, is heard at the peak of his powers, obviously inspired by the powerhouse rhythm section of pianist McCoy Tyner (who also has a heated solo), bassist Ron Carter, and drummer Elvin Jones; the results are magical.
