Chick Corea’s Freedom Band perform in France at the 2010 Jazz in Marciac Festival.

Chick Corea who was originally from Chelsea, Massachusetts like so many began his career in New York where he played his first gig with Cab Calloway.

Becoming known as an avant-guard player beginning in the late ’60s, Corea’s music would later be classified as jazz-fusion for its inclusion of Latin elements.

A veteran pianist many of his compositions are now considered jazz standards.
