Imagine walking down the street and seeing this band playing!

It happens all the time in New Orleans for, although Tuba Skinny has become well known and regularly performs in clubs and at festivals, they also love performing for passerbys in the street.

Founded in 2007, Tuba Skinny has since recorded ten albums and traveled to Europe, performing 1920s and ‘30s jazz plus newer originals.

The band in this performance from 2018 consists of the leader Shaye Cohn on cornet, trombonist Barnabus Jones, clarinetist Ewan Bleach, guitarist Greg Sherman, Jason Lawrence on banjo, Todd Burdick on tuba, and Robin Rapuzzi on washboard.

The se’ven-piece group performs their adaptation of Duke Ellington’s 1928 piece “Jubilee Stomp” which was originally played by Ellington’s big band; nothing is missing in this tight but loose arrangement.
