During the past 20 years, Ingrid Jensen has been one of jazz’s major trumpeters, always capable of playing creative and fiery solos in modern hard bop and post bop settings.
Her sister, altoist Christine Jensen, has been notable as both a soloist and an arranger in Canada although she is not yet as well-known in the U.S. as her sister.
In a group with guitarist Ben Monder, bassist Fraser Hollins, and drummer Jon Wikan, Ingrid and Christine Jensen play attractive yet modern ensembles (blending together quite well) and colorful solos that perfectly fit the altoist’s moody original “Margarita.”
